at St. Matthew Lutheran Church

We have rebuilt!
We have a new Pastor!

1. We have rebuilt.

As part of our social ministry, the congregation of St. Matthew has completed its ambitious affordable housing building project.

The project is now completed! Luther Place consists of a subsidized 45-unit residential apartment building for seniors and non-elderly singles. The common area includes a chapel, which is the new worship centre for St. Matthew.

The non-profit corporation, Luther Place Apartments Inc., has carried the housing project forward. We are extremely pleased to see our efforts of many years finally come to completion. Click here for details of the project (Caution: 10 MB file!).

Bishop Michael Pryse of ELCIC Eastern Synod dedicated the new facility on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2009

assisted by Bishop Claude Miller, Fredericton Diocese of the Anglican Church, Canon Thomas Smith, Canon James Irvine, and Pastor Guenter Dahle, Assistant to the Bishop.

A resolution in 2004 by the ELCIC and the Anglican Church of Canada, calling on all levels of government to create 25,000 units of affordable housing annually, resulted in three phases of funding which made this project possible.

2. We have a new Pastor.

The congregation of St. Matthew has called Pastor Doug Moore. Pastor Moore has now begun his work in Fredericton.

Pastor Moore will lead the congregation on its spiritual journey. Three ministries are planned:

  1. Seniors
  2. Campus ministry
  3. Community outreach

We welcome Pastor Moore and his wife Karen back to New Brunswick.
